For the past 80 years, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor have provided outreach services for at-risk children and teens in the LA Harbor and South Bay areas. The organization offers a college pathway support program known as College Bound, which sets out to improve high school graduation and college enrollment rates.
Designed for members in Grades 4 through 12, College Bound helped ensure a graduation rate of 98 percent in 2016, with 94 percent of graduates enrolling in some type of postsecondary education. Participants in the College Bound program enjoy access to resources such as daily tutoring and mentoring, which helps them succeed in their current classes.
In terms of college prep, College Bound offers test-based resources from Princeton Review and college credit courses. For students nearing the college application process, the College Bound program helps arrange campus visits and financial aid opportunities.
